On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced updates on the health status of Anthony Bennett, Anderson Varejao, and Andrew Bynum as training camp for the 2013-14 NBA season got underway.
Anthony Bennett, Cleveland’s first overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft has been cleared for all basketball activities for the start of training camp. Bennett was recovering from left shoulder surgery.
Anderson Varejao has also been cleared for all basketball activities for the start of training camp. Varejao was recovering from a blood clot and a right vastus medialis split.
Newly acquired Andrew Bynum continues to progress in his rehabilitation process from knee surgery. The Cavaliers have set no timetable for his return to full basketball contact and activity.
"There’s no lockdown target date, honestly,'' Bynum said Monday. "I’m on track. It would be nice (to be ready for regular season). There’s no concrete date. It’s all up to the medical staff. We’re trying not to be reactive. We want to get out ahead of everything.''
While Bynum is running full speed on the court, he has yet to play in any five-on-five games. Fans and coaching staff alike hope he will be healthy and ready to go sooner rather than later.
