Some experts picked the AFC North to have three teams earn playoff spots in 2013. Yet on Sunday, the AFC North went winless during the first week of live action. After Baltimore gave up seven touchdown passes in a loss to Denver, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland each had a chance to go up a game. However, it’s not all bad news for the Browns. CBSsports.com reported on Wednesday September 11, that defensive end/ linebacker, Barkevious Mingo has been cleared for contact and will play in a road game at Baltimore.
After suffering a bruised lung in the preseason, Mingo was coughing up blood. At one point, it was reported that Barkevious Mingo could be out up two months. Later, as the injury subsided, Mingo’s prospects for playing earlier increased.
Last week, Cleveland’s defense played a spectacular game in the loss. They recorded four sacks and held Miami to 23 yards rushing. Mingo just adds more depth to an already stout defense.
Coach Rob Chudzinski stated to the media, “we’ll see how well he progresses.” If he comes back strong anytime soon, then opposing offenses will continue to have a terrible time against Cleveland.
