Among the 2013 NCAA football live stream and TV matchups on Saturday, Oct. 5 will be a new ACC team getting their first game of the season, against a tough opponent. In the early afternoon, the No.3 Clemson Tigers pay a visit to the unranked Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome. The latest televised and live online NCAA football game will be presented via ABC and ESPN's sports networks.
An Oct. 5 report via ESPN.com indicates that these two teams have met just once in their history. Back then Donovan McNabb was the quarterback for the Orange and led them to victory by a final score of 41-0. That was the Gator Bowl back in 1995. Today's meeting is a bit different, as Clemson (4-0, 2-0 ACC) is ranked the highest they've ever been in the team's history, and trying to climb even higher. Syracuse 2-2 overall is 2-0 at home, so they'll certainly have the home field crowd in their advantage, with Orange fans hoping for the big upset.
Clemson enters this matchup led by their star quarterback Tajh Boyd who has thrown 73-for-114 with 994 yards and 9 touchdowns so far. Sammy Watkins has been his top receiver, pulling in 25 receptions for 355 yards and two touchdowns. In terms of rushing, Clemson has relied most on Roderick McDowell who has 253 yards on the season, but no touchdowns, yet. Clemson currently ranks 17th overall in college football for passing yards per game (312.5/game) and points per game (43 ppt).
After today, the Tigers will head back home for two more ACC games in the coming weeks, including an Oct. 19 showdown with currently-No.8 Florida State. Will they stumble ahead of that game, or continue to roll?
Syracuse will be led by Drew Allen at quarterback, who has thrown just 555 yards so far this season on 54-of-94 passing, with two touchdowns. Running back Jerome Smith has scored six TD's for the team so far with 217 yards on 51 carriers. Cuse is coming off back-to-back blowout wins, including a Sept. 21 win 52-17 over Tulane. Their two losses came at then No.19 Northwestern 48-27 and against Penn State in their opener, 23-17. However, with two straight wins, will Syracuse find a way to pull off a huge upset in their biggest ACC game so far (and ever)?
The odds makers have given Clemson the edge here with the Tigers favored to win by two touchdowns at most books. The over/under is set at 66 points for the combined score between the two teams. Weather reports indicate highs of 78 degrees and lows of 62 degrees in Syracuse, with a 20% chance for precipitation at the game.
Saturday's Clemson vs. Syracuse game has a start time of 3:30 p.m. EST. Television coverage will be presented on ABC and ESPN2 around the country for cable or satellite TV viewers. In addition, many cable or satellite customers will have access to WatchESPN and can watch the Clemson vs. Syracuse game live online.
