Why buy expensive, toxic chemical cleaners? Look in your pantry for salt, vinegar, baking soda, and lemons. They can clean just about anything. These are items most people have on hand. Ok some people do not have fresh lemons, but lemon juice is a good substitute.
Here is just a few ways to utilize the natural cleaners in these four items.
- For cleaning your toilets pour in 1 cup of vinegar and throw in a handful of baking soda. It will foam up and look like it is going to erupt. After the foam settles swish it all around and flush. This should expose a nice clean toilet.
- To clean drains, place a 1/2 cup of baking soda in the drain, followed by 1 cup of vinegar. Let this solution set for about a half hour. Then, pour a pot of boiling water down the drain.
- Have hard water stains? Mix 1 tsp. of vinegar and 2 Tbsp. of salt into a paste. Then rub on with a soft cloth.
- Needing to clean water marks from a glass vase? Fill it 3/4 full of hot water and add 1 tsp. of baking soda. Let it set overnight and rinse it out in the morning.
- Shine your faucets with a soft cloth soaked in vinegar.
- Clean bathtubs and sinks with a paste of baking soda and water.
- Windows and linoleum comes clean with water and vinegar.
- If your windows or mirrors have soap scum try dipping a lemon in salt and wiping it on the window.
