White clothes are the ones we wear that everyone wants stain-free, bright and to remain as white as the day they were purchased. Over time they all seem to fade, absorb stains and become dingy looking. Bleach and other laundry additives work up to a point then seem to lose their potency in getting whites really white. Plus you are adding chemicals to the wash loads and inhaling some awful smells too. Wouldn’t it be nice to try your hand at a natural way to brighten those whites and always keeping them looking new? Well there is, and it is a simple process.
Just place a large stock pot on the stove filled with water. Slice up four lemons and add them to the pot. Then bring the water to a rolling boil and turn off the heat. Include the items of clothing you wish to brighten into the pot and use a wooden spoon to push them down so they are completely soaked into the lemon brine. Let the items soak for an hour, remove the items, squeeze out as much water as you can and launder as usual. These items will be brighter and whiter once again and the fibers of the fabrics won’t be damaged.
Items that you can use this process on are:
- Small linens
- Tee shirts
- Cloth napkins
- Table doilies
- Cloth diapers
Show off those whites again naturally!
