After you get that new holiday outfit or those new pair of shoes as a gift, make room in your closet by donating items you don't need.
The HIV Intervention Project (H.I.P.) is accepting new or used designer clothes, shoes and accessories such as belts and precious metals, to help combat HIV/AIDS in Atlanta.
If you donate before the New Year you can receive tax deductions based on the fair market value of the items donated, just in time for federal tax season 2011. All items are to be authentic designer good, in clean condition and not damaged.
The items will be resold by the H.I.P Let It Go thrift store to benefit programs that assist those with HIV/AIDS in Atlanta and for HIV prevention outreach.
The HIV Intervention Project (H.I.P.) is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that incorporates street outreach tools and social media technology for HIV prevention and awareness with the primary goal to develop a healthier community, particularly in the African American community.
Georgia ranks ninth in the nation in the number of HIV/AIDS cases, according to Kaiser State Health Facts. Fulton County has the highest prevalence of HIV among metro Atlanta counties.
H.I.P. is committed to providing HIV/AIDS outreach, prevention services, and advocacy. Building on decades of dedication and expertise of board members, staff, and volunteers, we understand the reality of people reverting back to unhealthy and unsafe practices.
H.I.P. not only addresses HIV prevention, the organization also assists clients in areas such as alcohol and substance abuse, joblessness, homelessness, mental health, and physical and emotional abuse.
