The NFL reported today that Clay Matthews was fined $15,000 for his late hit on Colin Kaepernick in last Sunday's game. The late hit by the All-Pro linebacker sparked an altercation with Joe Staley coming in and holding Matthews back. Officials mistakenly threw a flag on Staley which resulted in offsetting penalties for both the 49ers and Packers. The 49ers scored on the next play with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin.
Ahmad Brooks and Anquan Boldin were also fined as well. Brooks was fined $12,750 for a late hit on Aaron Rodgers which resulted in a roughing the passer penalty in the second quarter. Boldin ended up being fined $7,875 for a late hit on CB Jarrett Bush during the third quarter.
