Clay Aiken has signed a new record deal with Decca Records, label that represents Sting, Morrissey, Boyz II Men, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Rufus Wainwright, Marianne Faithfull, and Paula Cole, among others.
An announcement on Clay Aiken's official website read, "Clay Aiken signs record deal with Universal Music’s Decca Records. Expect new music in the first half of 2010! Keep checking back here for more details to come."
Earlier this year it was rumored that American Idol runner up Clay Aiken was no longer with RCA Records. Now, it is certain that he has, in fact, moved on -to bigger, greater things, perhaps?

Big fan of Clay Aiken. He has been busy for 7 years, on tours, starring on Broadway, running a successful Foundation and being an UNICEF ambassador. I am looking forward to his new music.
Question? Why the VERY OLD picture of Clay? There are so many up to date pictures that you could have chosen. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a picture that is of "today" I am sure you would not post a 7 year old picture of yourself would you??

Hey fans, don't be so hard on the writer. Romina, the majority of Aiken fans are not rude like some you see here. The nasty remarks come from the haters with no life. Thanks for the article, and I bet before the day is over, someone will send you a good pic of Clay that they took themself and would be happy to let you use, and is most likely better than any promo pic you'd find. Very excited for Clay, and Decca should be dancing in the streets. This guy's voice is stupendous, and it's time to hear it again. Hopefully, he will get the promotion he richly deserves, and the media and radio will embrace him.

Excellent! His last CD, "On My Way Here," was stunning- full of songs that were beautiful AND radio-friendly, and RCA seriously dropped the ball with their complete and utter lack of promotion. They should be ashamed. I'm so happy that Clay has moved on to a better label, one that will promote him and care for him the way he deserves.
Looking forward to new music from Aiken. Also hoping to see him touring again as I saw him in Tulsa a couple of years ago, didn't expect to see he's also a comedian. Congratulations to Clay and Decca. Thank you for the story Romina.

This is great news! RCA was just not a good fit for Clay Aiken. They did not ever give him the promotion he so deserved. I'm so happy that Decca/Universal signed him and that he will now stand among the excellent artists represented by them. Clay has such a unique talent and he deserves to be heard by more than his fans. Good promotion will allow that to happen. FINALLY!!!!

I am a former Clay Aiken fan, having bought his first album after American Idol. In fact, I boycotted AI because I thought Clay should have won season 2- anyone remember the winners' name? However, I did watch this year after a long hiatus from AI. I used to consider myself a Clay fan, but when he trashed Adam Lambert, that all changed. The best thing to come from AI? I don't think so! That title belongs to Adam Lambert, forever.
I'm really excited about a new album from Clay! I have really enjoyed his previous albums, it will be great to hear more from him. It seems like a very good career move for him to sign with Decca Records.
Glad Clay signed with Decca & plans to record (& maybe tour?) again. I've been afraid he was going to give up singing & focus on his charitable works for UNICEF and the National Inclusion Project. What a loss to the entertainment world that would have been! Maybe the tabloid press will back off since they got their big, public scoop on his private life, and just let the man sing!

The Clay Aiken spammers are at it, as always! You BET they spam AND get the word out on the message boards to "Vote your fingers off," as one Claymate said on one of the boards. They give detailed instructions on the boards on how to vote multiple times, even when you're only supposed to vote once. (I lurk - the Claymates are so over-the-top, they're FUNNY - well, in a weird, demented way!) They also write favorable comments about him, several times, using different names, and some even use male names, to make it look like Aiken has more male fans than he does! Will I buy Aiken's new CD, if there is one, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! You couldn't PAY me to buy or listen to ANYTHING Clay Aiken puts out! I can't believe he might be subjecting more people to his screeching, cracking voice. Oh, the humanity!!

His last CD's TANKED, BIG TIME, and he couldn't even GIVE a song away when he tried a few months ago! His horrible appearance on "America's Next Top Model" actually LOWERED the ratings for the show the night he was on... LOL!! There are so many more reasons why your comment is so funny, but... Yeah - fear the Aiken!! I'm sure David Cook, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, et al, are shaking in their boots. Everyone has different tastes, I don't bash anyone why do you? Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken are worlds apart there is no comparison. I like them both and think they are both talented but for very different reasons. I really get tired of the comparison if Idol Contestants, the most successful ones have been different in their own right and found their niche. Oh and not all people who appreciate Clay's voice are crazed fans but simply enjoy his easy, heartfelt way of singing. Also other contestants have just as many crazed fans and "spam" sites to get their multiple votes in! It is nothing new, been happening for years, it may have started with Clay's fans but has spilled over to many others. Nice article anyway.
