The fifth season of Celebrity Apprentice begins filming next week and cast rumors continue to swirl. However one contestant is confirmed by People Magazine. Clay Aiken, the 2nd place finisher from the second season of American Idol is on board for Donald Trump’s boardroom. Aiken will compete with 15 other celebrities to earn money for their chosen charities.
Although known as the second season “first runner-up” on American Idol, Clay Aiken is by far the season’s best selling star. In fact, he is one of the top 10 American Idol earners, pulling in an estimated $1.5 million annually. Aiken landed on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 2003, released five albums, launched nine tours, landed a Broadway role, and wrote a New York Times best-selling book called Learning To Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life since competing on Idol.
Clay Aiken is no stranger to charity work, which is why he accepted the challenge to appear on Celebrity Apprentice. He created the National Inclusion Project (formerly the Bubel/Aiken Foundation) in 2003, accepted a UNICEF ambassadorship in 2004, and in 2006 was appointed for a two-year term to the Presidential Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
Who could Clay Aiken go up against on Celebrity Apprentice? Names being mentioned for the new cast include comic Adam Corolla, 80s pop star Debbie Gibson, talk show host Arsenio Hall, model Cheryl Tiegs, rocker Dee Snider, Real Housewife Teresa Guidice, and Trekkie George Takei.
The next season of Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump airs on NBC in March-May of 2012.
