Los Angeles natives and disco champions Classixx played a show with EDM prodigy Zedd this past Thursday, causing a stir in the Twitter sphere. Claiming the opening position at this Chicago show seemed nothing short of odd for a duo known for their tropically infused disco tracks.
Hardcore Clarity fans were left in a state of confusion after the performance and looked to Twitter to vent their frustration for an opener who delivered less of their beloved bangers to instead favor groove oriented, nu-disco tracks. Read the full coverage from Stoney Roads here.
Not far away, in another mid-west performance, Ashley Jones (aka - Treasure Fingers) found himself in a physical brawl during his opening set at the sold out Bassnectar tour stop at Bridgestone Arena. A disgruntled fan climbed the stage and somehow passed security to make a flying leap onto Jones' back. The entire altercation was caught on video and can be viewed above.
Whether the incidents can be chalked up to bad booking decisions or a flaccid hope that commercial EDM fans will fall in love with the unfamiliar merits of groove and melody remains to be seen. Treasure Fingers was not seriously injured and lived to Instagram the tale. Classixx made light of their own situation by favoriting many of the unsavory tweets regarding the performance.
