There have been rumors circulating about a possible format flip of an Orlando radio station by the end of this month. What's interesting is that this radio station is not a commercial station.
This non-commercial radio station relies on donations & fund raisers to keep the programming it has. There are a wide variety of radio shows to choose from. This radio station is on the "left-side" of your FM dial.
The rumors are about WMFE-FM 90.7, a non-commercial Classical radio station with specialty shows such as "Echoes". There have been concert fund raisers on PBS that deal with WMFE-FM 90.7, such as the Sarah Brightman & Yanni concerts with special seating & exclusive merchandise that is given to people who pledge a certain amount.
Although, a lot of effort has been given, these hard economic times have an impact on local radio. As a result, radio stations that solely rely on listener donations might have gotten less than their target this year to continue operating costs & personel salaries.
WMFE-FM 90.7 is rumored to flip to News/Talk by the end of October. It might be a little too late, but listeners can pledge a certain amount to hopefully keep all of their programming past this projected time they will flip the station format. Their website is http://www.wmfe.org.
