There are several great events in the classical and jazz idiom here in Denver this month. I reprinted the listing of the events from the Denver Musicians Association below. Enjoy!

With over 82 recordings to his credit, 20 as a leader in his own right, pianist, composer, publisher, educator, author and touring artist, Hal Galper is best known for his work with Chet Baker, Connonball Adderley, John Scofield and the Phil Woods Quintet. He has won a Grammy nomination and a Grammy for his recordings with the award-winning Phil Woods Quartet and Quintet and was awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Berklee College of Music.

Whats Cookin’ Jazz Band, 4/14

Monday April 12th The Whats Cookin' Jazz Band will be performing at Moes BBQ from 7:00 to 9:30. All ages are welcome, (16 and over without parents must show an ID). The band consists of many of the Metro areas finest jazz artists. We will be performing High Energy, original arrangements from bebop to fusion.

Come early for best seating and enjoy the wonderful food at Moes BBQ. Moes is in Englewood at 3295 S. Broadway next to the Gothic Theatre. 2 blocks north of Hampden.

Craig Morris, former principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 4/13
The University of Colorado at Boulder will be presenting trumpet artist Craig Morris, former principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in a concert and masterclass Tuesday, April 13th. Mr. Morris will perform a solo recital at 3:00 p.m., followed by a masterclass at 4:00 p.m. Works by Ewazen, Schumann and Debussy will be included.

The concert/masterclass will take place in Dave Grusin Hall, in the Imig Music Building on the CU campus. Both concert and masterclass is free and open to the public. Parking is available directly across the street from the music building.
