Woman's Suit (Wikipedia.org)
Women's suits have changed several times over the past century. Today, however, suits have become the working woman's staple wardrobe item.
Coco Chanel was known as the pioneer of sportswear. With a shortage on fabric at a time of war, she used jersey knit fabric to create separates for women. She created looks that were fairly uncommon in those times.
Years after Coco redefined the suit, other Designers began to create modern separates as well. Today the suit is being revolutionized even more with trendy details that are reminiscent of the 18th and 19th Centuries.
For example, the La Roc Captain Glam Jacket, available at Nieman Marcus in Tyson's Galleria, VA has a detailing that resembles the portrait below from the late 18th Century.

Edgy fashion trends have not completely taken over women's suiting as of yet. The standard black, gray, or navy suit can still be found, and these are still great investments for your wardrobe as well.
