The Classic Petra concert scheduled for this Saturday, November 12, 2011 at The Majestic Theater in Dallas has officially been postponed until sometime in 2012. At this point it is too early to say where in the Dallas-Fort Worth area the new event will be held, or exactly when.
Originally the Texas leg of the tour was scheduled for November 10, 11, & 12, in Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas respectively. But on November 1st it was publicized that the Houston show was postponed until February 3rd, at would take place at The Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall, a "smaller, more intimate venue."
"Hey everybody. We know this is disappointing news for everyone.
The reason for the cancellations was poor ticket sales.
As far as dates coming up in the future, we’ll keep you posted.
We’ll always do our best to answer any questions you may have.
God bless all of you,
Rescheduling the Houston show most likely had a negative effect on the remaining November TX dates due to the road costs associated with the tour. If there is one promoter for all three shows, he/she may be working to line up all dates around the new Houston event.
Whatever the case may be, hopefully those who are now seeking ticket refunds will still be able to make it to the new dates and help spread the word to bring in a larger crowd for 2012.
Some fans are suggesting a church to host the event, which indeed can bring the cost down; however, it is an interesting phenomena how often churches and Christians would prefer to attend a Christian event at a secular venue because it is considered "neutral."
That concept alone can make for an entirely seperate article.
For now, pray for the promoter(s) who most likely spent thousands or tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours to book the venues, pay the band's management fee, arrange ticket sales, advertisements, etc., and may never fully recoup the loss even if the shows do go on.
The gospel is free, but even Jesus and his disciples needed the support of others. (Luke 8:1-3)
