Spaghetti with Marinara--mmmm...
Ligori's Italian Pizza and Pasta offers family-friendly homestyle Italian food at reasonable prices. With two locations (Ogden and Hill Air Force Base), this quaint rustic restaurant deserves a try. The ambience reminds me of Italian mom-and-pop shops in Italy with frescoes on the walls and ceiling. The scenery evokes Italy even for those who have never been there.
The menu offers raviolis, spaghetti, pizzas, and kids fare with homemade marinara and cream sauces, all ranging from $6.99 to $9.99. The sauces are really the reason to dine here, especially the cream sauce (ah yes, calories again). The marinara is a bit tangy (not as sweet as most marinaras), which is more authentic southern Italian style. However, the taste may not be up to Americans used to sweet.
My personal fave is the Cheese Ravioli with garlic bread. Once the ravioli is gone (way too soon), I love to soak up the extra cream sauce with the bread. The pizzas are also good, but lack personality and originality. For children, Ligori's offers a small plate of ravioli or a hotdog plus drink and cookie for $4.79. This is one of the reasons for bringing the family here--kids eat well without costing a fortune.
Over the past few years I've seen the quality fade a bit. For example, a standard dinner comes with the option of soup or salad. The salad used to be some head lettuce with a slice of tired tomato, and now it doesn't even come with the tomato. Whateve the reason, the food is average but reasonable.
