Classic couture: the white shirt

In a woman’s closet there should be a few staples, a few go to pieces. A white collared shirt is one of them. There are many styles of white shirts, from a tailored, crisp collared shirt with French cuffs just waiting for sparkling cufflinks to a loose billowy poet blouse with ruffles to add a little bohemian to your chic. They also come in different hues of white such as bright white, eggshell, and off-white. This piece can be worn with just about anything from casual jeans to a snazzy suit. For eveningwear, most women automatically chose black or dark colors. A white shirt can make the wearer stand out in a classy way as she brings light to the dark colors in the room. The only real rule for a white shirt is it must be kept as bright white as possible. The easiest way to do this is to have them dry-cleaned and pressed, but they can also usually be hand washed.
