The Lee Academy Pandas and George Stevens Eagles girls basketball teams are hoping the "third time is a charm".
This evening, the Pandas will travel to Lincoln for a class C preliminary round game against the Mattanawcook Lynx.
The Lynx (9-9) won both regular season match-ups, including a 44-43 contest at Lincoln on January 22nd.
Theresa Onwuka averaged 21.5 points for Lee (8-10) in their two games against Mattanawcook.
The winner gets third seeded Narraguagus in the quarterfinals.
Washington Academy (7-11) will travel to Blue Hill for a prelim game against George Stevens.
The Raiders won 35-30 when they traveled to George Stevens early in the season.
In their second meeting, Washington Academy built a 15 point lead and held off a George Stevens (9-9) rally to earn a 48-39 victory.
The Eagles won five of their last six games to earn the number eight seed and the home prelim game.
The winner will face top seeded Calais in the quarterfinals at Cross Insurance Center.
Washington Academy (7-11) lost both games during the regular season against Calais by an average of only 2.5 points.
The Piscataquis community high school (PCHS) Pirates will host Sumner at 6 p.m.
PCHS (10-8) finished 7-2 at home, including a big win against Dexter late in the season to lock down a home prelim game.
The only losses for the Pirates at home came against Narraguagus who is the number three seed in class C, and Foxcroft who is the number five seed in class B.
Sumner (7-11) grabbed a tourney spot thanks to a 38-29 victory over George Stevens on January 28th.
The PCHS/Sumner winner gets second seeded Orono in the quarterfinals.
