Breia Brissey of Entertainment Weekly's Shelf Life shared her exclusive Q and A with Mortal Instruments author Cassandra Clare plus an excerpt of the highly anticipated "City of Heavenly Fire." In the interview Clare talks about the cover, which was revealed recently via "The Insider" and even mentions how the artwork hold clues to the story to come.
"...there’s a play of light and dark going on on the cover, and that sets up a big battle between good and evil with Clary standing for good and Sebastian standing for evil. There’s also little clues for the readers who have been reading the series a long time in the weapons that they’re holding, in the necklace that Clary is wearing, and especially in the landscape that they’re standing on. It gives a hint about what’s coming and what’s going to happen in the book."
Were you wishing for a different character duo to appear on the cover? You still may be in luck!
"If you take the jacket off, the whole image wraps around to an interior image that shows all of the rest of the other characters. They’ve never gotten their own covers, so this is a chance to see them for the last time."
Clare also spoke for the first time about a secret TV project she's working on.
"One of the things I’m super excited about is a TV project. I can’t say that much about it because it’s super secret. But it’s been really fun, and I’m really excited. Sorry I can’t say more."
Keeping to her secret, we don't know if this TV project is directly involved with the Shadowhunter universe but which stories from Clare's world would you love to see on television?
Clare also spoke about her next book projects including the first "The Iron Trial" co-written with Holly Black due out in September and "The Dark Artifices."
