Claire Davis, the shooting victim from Arapahoe High School, died on Saturday night, according to a Dec. 21 report in the Los Angeles Times. Davis was a 15 year old student at the high school and was shot in the head by fellow student, Karl Halvorsen Pierson, 18.

It is with unspeakable sadness that we write and say that Claire has passed away from the gunshot wound she received at Arapahoe High School on December 13, 2013 … We ask that you give us time to grieve the death of our daughter by respecting our wishes for privacy,” the Davis family wrote in a statement on Littleton Adventist Hospital’s Facebook page.

Claire Davis was an innocent victim of Karl Halvorsen Pierson on Dec. 13. In fact, Davis did not even know the senior high school student. After shooting Davis in the head, Pierson committed suicide at the campus shortly after the shooting.

Social media has rallied around the victim, with the hashtag, #prayforclaire, becoming popular across multiple platforms. More than 500 students held a vigil for Claire Davis last week outside of the Arapahoe High School. Students were allowed to return to the campus two days ago.

A Facebook status on the hospital’s page stated that Claire Davis would have a public celebration of her life that will happen at a later date.
