Claire Danes wins SAG Award for performance in 'Homeland' (Photos)

Actress Claire Danes has won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in "Homeland" on Jan. 27 at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, Calif. The Screen Actors Guild Awards are presented by SAG-AFTRA and honor the best performances in film and television. Tonight’s show broadcast around the world from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium.

This is the second Screen Actors Guild Award win and fourth nomination for Claire Danes. Her previous SAG Award win was in 2011 for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for her performance in "Temple Grandin."

"Homeland," is the Showtime television series about Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) as he returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), a driven CIA officer, suspects he might be plotting an attack on America.

"Homeland" was nominated for a total of three SAG Awards this evening, with the other nominations for:

  • Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series to Damian Lewis
