Tonight, Claire Danes as Temple Grandin took a win at the SAG Awards 2011.
This makes a sweep for the amazing thespian and this amazing tale of an awesome autistic animal advocate. Danes picked up every award out there, from the Golden Globes to the Emmy Awards. And now Claire took the Actor, too.
This accomplished artist was stunning at the Screen Actors Guild awards, taking her first win ever for this particular show where those who took home trophies were chosen by their peers. In her acceptance speech, Claire Danes was especially humbled given she said she was nominated in the same category as 'her friends'.
At the podium in the Shrine Auditorium, Danes said:
'In some ways, this was an isolating role to play. I couldn't even look my fellow characters in the eyes. I was blessed to work with some of the finest actors out there.'
Indeed, Danes called her character of Temple Grandin challenging, a nerve-wracking role. On stage, she talked about her second day of filming in which her colleague and scene partner, Catherine O'Hara, and how this actor made her laugh, get out of her head and 'chill out.' Obviously, the help worked for that nervous performer who pulled off perhaps the role of her lifetime, at least thus far in a career that is sure to span decades.
So, congratulations, Claire Danes. You made an impossibly impressive Temple Grandin on HBO.
