Emmy® Award winner Claire Danes (Temple Grandin) and British actor Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) will star in HOMELAND, a new one-hour drama pilot from the Emmy® Award winning executive producers of 24, according to a January 4, 2011 press release from Showtime. A production of FOX 21, the series is loosely based on Gideon Raff’s Israeli television series “Prisoners of War.”

Damian Lewis will play U.S. Marine Sergean Scott Brody, a POW who was missing in Iraq for nearly a decade who miraculously returns home. Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes) is a driving CIA officer is suspicious of Brody and becomes convinced that the national hero may to connected to an Al Qaeda plot. Laura Fraser (A Knight's Tale) has been cast in the role of Jessica, Brody's intrepid and complicated wife. Diego Klattenhoff (Men in Trees) will play Mike Faber, a Marine colonel and Brody's best friend who has become close with Jessica over the years that he has been MIA. HOMELAND begins production in January 2011 and will be executive produced by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, who recently served as executive producers on the long-running series 24.
Claire Danes won critical acclaim for her role this past year in the HBO biopic “Temple Grandin” for which she won an Emmy® Award.
