The stud fees and any revisions for the Claiborne Farm stallion roster were announced on October 9. Claiborne has added one new stallion [see author’s story Thoroughbred stallion Data Link retires to Claiborne], bringing the total number of stallions standing at Claiborne to eleven. Two stud fees have changed – War Front’s fee has increased from $80,000 to $150,000 and First Samurai has gone up from $10,000 to $15,000.
Claiborne also announced the newly-set stud fee for Grade I winner Data Link – it’s been set at an introductory rate of $7,500. Data Link is joining his sire, War Front, and the other nine stallions in the breeding shed.
All of the other stallions’ fees remain the same for 2014.
War Front is realizing successes on the track and at the sales. A few of his stakes winners are War Command, Departing, Declaration of War and Lines of Battle. One of his young ones brought $2.5 million. Altogether his 35 yearlings brought $14,057,000 at the sale.
And then Claiborne has First Samurai. Nine of his racers have taken stakes so far in 2013. Ten of his yearlings brought $57,000 at Keeneland.
