Most of the action takes place over two days, with plot twists and memorable characters. Readers of the previous novel, Back of Beyond, will recognize the players. Back of Beyond was chosen as a Kirkus Reviews "Best of Fiction" and received a starred review.

The Library Journal gives The Highway a starred review and said: "A non-stop, action-filled race against time. Rolling down the superhighway of suspense, this thriller will leave readers breathless."

C.J. Box, who lives in Cheyenne Wyoming, is a bestselling author of 18 novels, including the award-winning Joe Pickett series. Blue Heaven won the Edgar Award for Best Novel in 2009, and Box has won the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, and the Barry Award.

Open Season, his first novel, was a New York Times Notable Book and an Edgar Award and Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist. His books have been translated into 26 languages.
