Just fifty or sixty years ago, most Americans would have agreed that not only did they live in the greatest nation on earth, but that the United States was also a steadfast and stable one. It seems those days are long gone. With our independence and sovereignty now at risk of going the way of the dinosaur, we’ve seen more national and international upheaval over the past two decades than anyone would have thought possible. This trend has been accelerating in recent years with no indications of ceasing. The signs of our times are everywhere around us, casting a dark shadow that impacts everyone. Human society, now more than ever, is socially, morally, economically and even politically unstable. This fact in undeniable. We are all standing on the forefront of the perfect storm.
There is now less optimism regarding our future than there has ever been in America’s history, which is largely reflected in the increasing rates of suicide, murder and rampant crime across the nation. People aren’t happy with the state of affairs, no matter how the media and the current presidential administration attempt to spin things. It’s quite shocking to discover that so much of what many people accept as true comes straight from what they’ve seen reported on television and other sources of mainstream new media. This is true from sports to flu shots, topics that are thrown in our faces to distract and influence us. The mainstream media are the mouthpieces controlled by large, corporate entities that filter only information that’s been pre-approved and sanctioned for mass consumption. It’s a powerful machine that can’t be easily stopped.
One of the most dangerous elements contributing to the national and international decline is the lack of belief in the unseen, and the outright denial of Biblical truth. Our modern society consists of a large population of individuals who largely reject the truth of God, and the holy scriptures that testify to it. The modern age is one rooted in post-modern philosophy and false beliefs. Truth is no longer accepted as truth, just as all things moral are considered relative. A large percentile of our society believe that there are no absolutes, and that there are multiple spiritual paths that will lead people to God, or whatever they envision God to be. It’s up to the individual, just as some believe dogs make better pets than cats, or vise versa. This belief system is the template for all that’s considered politically correct, and there are way too few sounding the alarm against it.
We have been programmed and taught to value and seek after the standards that society has set for us. Just as the young executive is influenced to climb the proverbial corporate latter in his career, we are all influenced to achieve a level of what those around us consider success. This largely involves having the approval of others, and being accepted socially. In reality, this is a very dangerous thing. Although there is nothing wrong with having a successful career, or many friends, these things can often work to move us farther away from living a live of true freedom. Instead, many settle for a condition similar to living in the matrix. On a social level, we’ve become a nation of mindless clones, each seeking to conform to what we have been taught to through the confines of our culture. Although conformity may indeed be comfortable, it’s not necessarily beneficial.
How are we, the few of us who still believe in Jesus Christ as the savior of mankind, and aren’t ashamed of it, to respond? What are we to do in resistance to the Luciferian influences all around us? Regardless of how things may seem, or how we feel, all is not lost. Though the nations rage, and the ungodly seem to be in control, there is still hope. As Christ-followers, we must carry the light of God’s love into the darkness around us, and never has it been so dark. We will each journey through our own ‘shadow of the valley of death’ (Psalm 23:4), we will emerge on the top of the mountain of life. Although we live in a corrupt world system, we are not of it, and neither do we have to operate according to it’s rules. Let’s be not conformed to the pattern of this system any longer, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). God can still do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine, according to His great power (Ephesians 3:20).
