Less than a month after the Leftwing in America blamed conservatives for the Tucson shooting and demanded 'civility' in political discourse, a children's play in Montana called for the beheading of Sarah Palin.
The play, which was presented at the Missoula Children's Theater in Missoula, Montana on January 23, was a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Mikado.' But the play's director decided at the last minute to add a bit of 'humor' to the production by including a scene which called for the beheading of Sarah Palin.
Although the production was presented before a predominantly liberal crowd, the scene prompted the following letter to the editor in the local newspaper, the Missoulian:
Open letter to MCT director Curt Olds:
First I would like to compliment you and the entire staff of “The Mikado” on the beautiful sets, costuming and professional performance we experienced on Sunday, Jan. 23. However, I must call you on something that was inserted into the play which I am almost positive was not in the original book.
The comments made in such a cavalier and oh-so-humorous way were uncalled for. Now, I realize you play to a mostly liberal audience in Missoula and so, I am sure, felt comfortable in your calling for the beheading of Sarah Palin. I am painfully aware that most in the audience tittered with laughter and clapped because “no one would miss her” but there were some in your audience who took great offense to this “uncivil tone” about another human being.
We are in the midst of a crisis that took place in Tucson where many started pointing fingers at that horrible right wing with all their hatred and targeting and standing for the second amendment and on and on and on. So, here we are in a lovely play with beautiful voices serenading us and we have to hear that it is okay to call for the killing of Sarah Palin because we don’t like her and no one would miss her. Unbelievable.
As a professional you should be ashamed of yourself, the audience should be ashamed of themselves and I am ashamed of myself for not standing up and leaving at that very moment. I would like to see an apology from you not because I want to hinder free-speech but for the hypocrisy this so clearly shows.
No doubt the minions of the Leftwing will justify the scene on the basis of it being 'art' and 'fiction,' just as they did when Hollywood produced a movie about the assassination of George W. Bush, who was a sitting President at the time of the film's release.
However, what if the subject of the play had been, say, the beheading of Barack Obama? Or the rape of Michelle Obama? What if a Hollywood production depicted Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid being blown apart by the bomb of a terrorist?
Would the 'civil' Leftwing justify such depictions in the name of 'art' and remind the country that, after all, it is 'only fiction?'
Such an assertion is laughable. The Left, the mainstream media, the talking head pundits on TV, and Democrats in Congress would be calling for endless investigations into to whether or not the producers of such horrid depictions were co-conspirators in a homegrown terrorist plot.
Yet so far, no one from the Left has yet to decry the film depicting the assassination of George W. Bush, nor has there been one bit of outrage from the Leftwing concerning the despicable and highly suspicious addition to an innocent play which subjected children to a call for Sarah Palin's beheading.
Civility?

I love to watch and read how the left reacts to Palin. They are absolutely apoplectic (spelling is wrong I know) about her. They are scared to death of her. They say she's dumb. Doesn't know anything. blah blah blah. Well look at the moron they elected to the white house? Obama is too egotistical to admit he doesn't know anything, so rather than surround himself with people that are smarter than him (not a hard task) he surrounds himself with like minded idiots who know less about what goes on the world than he does. As you say - can you imagine if a play in a conservative stronghold had some lines about beheading Obama or Pelosi or any of them - OMG the uproar would be deafening.
I like Sarah Palin I wish she could get elected President because she realy cares about this country and the people in it. Also she cares about the people that have died to defend this country and what it stands for. Right now we have a person that don't even like this country and that scares me. And Sarah prays to our GOD. So I pray for her to help this Country. I beleave she will do what is best for this country. She has my vote
I totally agree with the letter to the editor with one exception. I would have gotten up and walked out no matter whose name was called for beheading. Am I to understand that children performed in this play? This Mr. Olds is a very evil man for allowing this type of display! Anyone in the audience that laughed and thought it was funny are just as evil. These far left liberals need to be ignored completely. Whether they believe it or not or like it or not - they will meet their maker one day.
They prove just how truly "scared" they are of Sarah Palin and Conservatives.
The movie you are alluding to is "Death of a President," a British film produced by Borough Films, not Hollywood. But, when has the truth ever gotten in the way of a conservative?
"hollywood' is often used as a generic term to refer to the film industry as a whole, but then you knew that.
Not sure with who made a movie is an error. You libtards are the truely stupid. A libtard or demoncrat would not know truth or fact if it jumped up and slapped you in the head. You are a moran. Can't wait for Rush and Glenn Beck. Oh I enjoy they're shows. Yeah they may be strange, but you cannot dispute the facts they give. 99% correct for Rush's info, 98 % for Glenn. No Libtard or demoncrat ever gets above 30% I will pray for your lost soul.
The point is Anonymous that the movie didn't bother anyone on the left yet if the same film were made now with Obama being assinated, we would never hear the end of it.
Trace and Arest them!
Whenever I start forgetting just HOW BADLY liberal, leftist, progressive politics have advanced toward destroying this country, I simply watch 15-20 minutes of Jerry Springer or Maury Povich.
It was a joke.. performed by children. Not the serious implication of a rush limbaugh or Glen Beck, or Sarah Palin followed by the sentiment that such an act would be the only way to save the country from the forces of evil. In other words.. Not the same..
You are actually going to defend such a despicable act? You are indeed a deeply indoctrinated left wing fool!
AMen brotha!
Joking about the beheading of a particular person is funny to whom? Especially in light of actual beheadings, I would think that you'd at least determine that political correctness should apply, after all, being "pc" is supposedly a liberal charateristic, is it not?
Are you saying that if Rush Limbaugh joked about the beheading of Obama, you'd defend him? Oh, and don't forget the part about the joke being told to a crowd of children!! I imagine there'd be lawsuits over that "joke"!
Was it a joke in the same way the terrorists laughed about Daniel Pearl?
While not the bigoted rhetoric of a Rush Limbaugh or a Glenn Beck, it still is not acceptable behavior, especially when children present it. Indeed, it IS an attempt at humor, but at the expense of the innocence of children. I assure you, some adults put those words in their mouths, just the same way as other adults put the words "blood libel" in Palin's mouth, and she didn't even know or understand what she had said...only that it sounded presidential!
It's always a joke when it suits your needs. If not, it's hate speech. TOO FUNNY!
Anonymous, How in the world did they let you out ?! I'm not going to rant but tell you that Sara Palin accomplished more for her state in two years than Ocrap (sp) in his two years and 5 trillion dollars have done, not even close ! Check it out if you dare or just keep watching Oberlier on MSNBC. You can always tell a liberal-progressive, you just can't tell em' much. Nuff said !
For such and act to be considered entertainment in a pay put on by children is terrible. The parents of those children should be outraged.
To politicize a childrens play is outrageous in the first place. For it to include the beheading of anyone given the current chain of events is deplorable.
"Civility" is now in the ear of the hearer, and depends on whose side one is on. Actually, it's been that way.
the play's director is a sh!thead for putting that into the play and you're a sh!thead for trying to pin it on the leftwing.
This just shows how sick this Nation has become! Children, I repete CHILDREN only do what they are led to do, by a so called ADULTS!!! That didn't teach anything but HATE!!! This is why our Country is in the state it is in! There is nothing funny about one human killing an other! Fake or whatever!!! The parents, teachers and School board should be reprimanded!!!!!!!!! SICK!!! This is AMERICA, and don't you forget it, we are better than this! You want God to save this country and do something like this! Learn to disagree with words and votes!
GODS not allowed in school
Your play is a joke and you are not funny..
And the only solution is civil war and purge.
@ Anonymous - too embarrassed to show your name? It really does not matter that Hollywood did not make this specific movie. There have been plenty from Hollywood who make enough public remarks against conservatives and Bush. The movie just demonstrates the differences between the right and left. If a British national or any other had made a movie similar with Obama, Pelosi or one of the "famed" democrats then head would have rolled, no matter who made and directed the film. Just get your head out of the sand Anonymous. It is not the right that has a problem with stating lies, it is the left. Check your facts.
So your latest "ALERT!!" is based on a letter to the editor in the Op/Ed page of a Missoula, Montana newspaper. You have vetted nothing, you have no corroboration, you present no facts...just the opinion of one, lone, sad little letter to the editor. Seriously? That's news?
Do you ever take a step back and look at what a sad, pathetic little man you are? (albeit with a ginourmous talking head)
Truly, Woodward, Bernstein and Berenstain (you heard me) are all collectively crapping their underoos at your mad investigative journalist skills.
The straws at which you constantly grasp should file a molestation complaint.
We've seen absolutely nothing that claims the letter to the editor is not based in fact. Research this yourself and then, please, come back and let us know that those who put on this play have stated that this letter is false. At that point, we'll all expect an apology from you, too.
Anonymous, correct me if I'm wrong but was the film a hit here in America with the left? The fact that children were used in this play is the part that chaps my hide. I don't care if it was Palin or Obama or John Doe, keep the kids out of it. That's truly macabre.
The time is coming close to when we'll have to battle it out in the streets. The 2-sides are diametrically opposed and there is no other solution. I have stocked up with what I need, have you???
I notice how (as usual) most of the coward posters remain anonymous...as is ordered them to do by their Devil (George Soros), and the paycheck they get from him.
Ad hominem attacks don't win arguments; they perpetuate them.
Sarah Palin is not a human. Therefore it is okay to talk about her in this way.
All you liberal progressives are moron/stupid!
And you sir or madam, are a scarecrow - if you only had a brain!
Agreed............she is subhuman. We should create camps for folks like her.
The play should have been about something else or they should have used someone else who is NOT in the public eye right now.
So you're saying that it's OK to depict a beheading, just that's it's "not someone in the public eye"? Really? How very sad you are...
So, the supporters of the Ginormous Talking Head are Okay with him just basically making stuff up?
Thought so. (Note to George Soros: The plan proceeds apace, O my Master)
Please note that non-obots shouldn't read the perenthetical stuff in my posts, kthxby!
Facts, once again, are those "stubborn things" which so-called "conservatives" don't ever seem to be all that much concerned with.
That "Hollywood movie" was a British-made film... and while we are told that unidentified "minions" justified it, there is no evidence of such "justification" offered by this author.
This author goes even further, stating: "Yet so far, no one from the Left has yet to decry the film depicting the assassination of George W. Bush."
This -- no surprise here -- is false.
One very high-profile voice from the Left, then U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton said: "I think it's despicable. I think it's absolutely outrageous. That anyone would even attempt to profit on such a horrible scenario makes me sick."
And now this little fact-challenged yarn about a purported children's play. It turns out that it was not a children's theater production at all... despite the standard wholly-uncritical and parrot-like repetition of this inaccuracy all across the right-wing smogosphere.
Per the statement of the Executive Director of MCT, Inc. himself, who runs both, it was the adult community theater company which produced and presented the play.
And it wasn't a "scene" that was added, it was a line.
One line.
Some tiny, obscure adult community theater way out in Big Sky Country makes a one-line off-color allusion, and the Reich Wing Speech Monitors' knickers are all in a collective knot.
Ridiculous.
You need to understand that Examiners aren't real journalists. I suspect that anyone could get a "job" (that pays in page views) with this company if they can form a decent sentence.
The play was presented on January 23. I do not know when this article was actually written nor do I know when Hillary made her comment. Before you condemn, you might want to make sure of the chronology of those two actions.
It was my understanding that this was a play given at a children's theater, not that it was acted nor produced by children. I understood that the audience was comprised of many children. I also read that there was a line about the beheading of Palin, I don't recall the article discussing a scene. Were you simply twisting the information to have something about which to complain?
Are you also lumping Hillary Clinton into the "Reich Wing Speech Monitors" as she has apparently voiced her outrage over the incident. according to your post, that is.
A few posts on a message board about a despicable act and the left has their knickers in a collective knot. Not once did you mention having any displeasure toward the line which was added. That is VERY telling. You are more concerned with defending your precious liberal agenda than in addressing an action that was horrendous. After all, it could be some nut that would take this "line" seiously and set out to behead Palin, right? That is what the left has been claiming about Palin's comments!
Ridiculous!
Since the Conservatives don't understand civility, maybe we should chop all their heads off.
This is NOT a "children's play." Please get your facts straight before publishing information that could have serious effects on this non-profit organization.
This was an operetta produced by MCT Community Theatre, which is the community theatre arm of Missoula Children's Theatre. This was not a production that was intended specifically for children. There were a small number of children in the cast, but there are children who chose, as artists, to perform in many productions outside of children's theatre.
Had this been a children's theatre production, this would have been unquestionably inappropriate. This was NOT, however, a "children's play"!
So, an organization that is not for profit actually decided to play in the political arena with a tasteless, tone deaf comment about a politician? And we should cry if some of their donors take offense and cease supporting them? I can't wait to hear the outrage that will follow if they lose donors for any reason after this. It'll all be Palin's fault as usual.
@Anonymous "It was a joke.. performed by children."
Children in the Middle East perform these "jokes" daily in the schools of the Palestinian Authority, on Palestinian Authority Television, in their homes, on the streets, and read them in their textbooks, etc. Am I to now believe that they have no intention of killing me since they are only "jokes"???
Pretty sick "joke" if you ask me!! Guess what, Mr. Olds?? I'm NOT laughing!!
How could this happen in the New Era of "Civility?" Oh, I know civility is code word for censorship of Conservatives or Tea-Partiers. Exploiting children is nothing new for the left/lib/Statists. They have been exploiting children to promote their radical agenda dealing with other topics such as Global Warming and Obamacare. Hollywood, public education, OFA, Saturday morning cartoons etc. have been indoctrinating children for many years.
@ Deb Bengtson, I agree. We should start with chopping off your head since this is your idea of what civility is.
And @ Anonymous when you say you are 'stocked up with what you need'. I thought all you Liberals were so against guns with wanting to change the gun control laws. Just what have you stocked up with, sticks and stones?
You two people are disgusting and exactly what is wrong with this country.
I truly belive that the discourse from BOTH sides of the aisle has fallen to epically irresponsible levels of depravity. But I find the fault is not with the politicians.
Wait, they are the ones that lie and throw epithets and thinly veiled threats of violence and uprising, yes?!
Yes. But why?
Politicians, whether they start their careers with good intentions or not, will do whatever it takes to stay in office. They call it representing their constituency. They actually mean representing their financial base, but you get the point. So, if politicians lie, cheat, and steal it is usually because they know it is what will keep them getting re-elected every term. So, who's to blame?
You, dear reader. You are to blame. The American populace, regardless of political belief, is made of sheeple that will blindly follow the loudest flute-player. Common sense and civility are ignored because they are meek, muted voices in a cacaphony of far-rliegfht-wing screaming.
If you don't like the current civil discourse, change it yourself. Don't just post online comments calling the other side a bunch of morons (and misspelling most of your insults). It does absolutely no good - it only perpetuates the problem.
And, if you're going to call yourself an "Examiner", try examning before writing, rather than simply regurgitating and igniting.
This is the kind of tit for tat rhetoric that has been going on in this nation for the last 30 years. In principle, I don't agree with the idea of beheading Mrs. Palin or wishing any harm towards her or any of the minions who may support her. It is, instead, another knee jerk emotional reaction to HER rhetoric. I have, in the past, commented on Mrs Palin's lack of tact, intolerance and insensitivity towards religious groups other than hers, her deeply insightful comments and misuse if language and terms, but this does not mean I support any kind of demonstration of violence against her, personally, or her family, and the comedic value of beheading Mrs Palin is totally lost on me. Let us say, publicly, once again, while Mrs Palin's rhetoric is capable of inciting contempt from the more middle oriented and liberal factions of this nation, SHE IS NOT TO BLAME FOR ANY ACTIONS TAKEN BY SOME DERANGED INDIVIDUAL!
While I agree with the basic tenor of the examiner's article, I wish to point out that, since 1980, this nation's swing towards corporate greed and mega profits can be squarely placed at the feet of the late President. His concept of "trickle down economics" has been proven to do nothing more than separate the middle and working poor classes from the upper crust of the ubberaristocracy of corporate America and the elected officials they lobby and buy. Besides, ALL Americans know what "TRICKLES DOWN", and it sure isn't Christian love or brotherhood!
