The details are still coming in from yesterday’s suicide in Building 1, at Eglin Air Force Base.
The male employee, who reportedly shot himself about 7 a.m., Sept. 11, has not been identified. It was not known if he is a veteran.
He was employed with the 96th Test Wing.
There were no other employees at the headquarters building who were in danger at the time of the incident.
First responders from the Eglin Air Force Base Fire Department got there immediately, even though many were participating in a 9/11 ceremony at the time of the suicide.

Eglin Air Force base, located near Valparaiso, Fla., has responsibility for development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of all air-delivered non-nuclear weapons.
Among other units, Eglin is home to the 7th Special Forces Group and is also to the new Joint-Strike Fighter F-35.
