Admission: Free to the Public
The Huntington Beach Historical Society will host its 20th annual Civil War Days to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st, 2013 at Huntington Beach Central Park.
Civil War Days features roughly 1000 re-enactors presenting living histories. Experience what daily life was like during Civil War times within the historic recreation of “Reedsburg”. The town showcases interesting exhibits, entertaining demonstrations and plenty of vendor shops to buy related items; such as, costumes, books, collector items, etc.
Visit the army camps. The Confederate and Union armies each have camps where uniformed soldiers re-enact daily life and prepare for battle. Open to the public at 10:00am each day.
That’s right—battle! With plenty of action, battle re-enactments take place twice a day. Drums, flags, rifles and canon fire are just part of the excitement. For battlefield location see—Huntington Beach Civil War Days Map.
Following each battle visitors will be regaled with President Lincoln as he delivers his famous Gettysburg Address.
Food and Refreshments are available at the event. All proceeds benefit the Huntington Beach Historical Society.
A Sunday morning "suttlers" church service is offered at 9:00am.
Come experience history with the whole family!
