BOND Action Founder and President, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson did not mix words today and was very precise on how he felt about President Obama’s 23 executive orders on gun control while President Obama leaves his hometown, Chicago, a war zone.
Peterson said in a release to the media, “President Obama’s orders will restrict 2nd Amendment rights and do nothing to stop mass shootings. Barack Obama is exploiting the Sandy Hook School shooting to emotionalize the public and pressure Congress to act hastily to pass oppressive gun restriction laws. The president was lukewarm on the idea of having armed guards in schools even though his kids are protected by armed Secret Service agents.”
“If stricter gun control laws are the answer, why aren't they working in Chicago? Illinois has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. Despite all the gun control, the president’s hometown is a war zone with over 500 murders in 2012. While some 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001, more than 5,000 people have been killed by gunfire in Chicago during that same time. The city of Chicago has more young homicide victims every month than died in Newtown. In the school year that ended in June, 319 Chicago public school students were shot, 24 of them fatally,” said Peterson.
On Jan. 11, a news report by the Paulding County Republican Examiner stated that Chicago had more than 500 gun homicides in 2012 roughly, 19 per 100,000 people that was quoted by Georgia native, Newt Gingrich, former 2012 presidential candidate and former Speaker of the U.S. House.
RT News had also reported that Chicago’s murder rate has far outpaced even other notoriously dangerous cities and will most likely be 2013’s US murder capital with 18 murders, and growing, so far this year.
Obama’s executive orders also include a federal background check system requiring states to share the private medical records of their residents with the feds. It will give doctors the “authority” to inquire and report patients with guns if they show signs of certain mental illnesses under Obamacare (Affordable Care Act).
Peterson said, “According to police records, most of these shooting were committed using illegally acquired guns. Gun control policies do not work and they never will because they disarm law-abiding citizens while keeping the criminals armed. The president failed to address the root cause of mass shootings, which in many cases is related to psychotropic medications and the anger many young people feel as a result of broken families and absent fathers. This is a cynical attempt by this president to use a tragedy to advance his left-wing agenda and trample on the rights and privacy of the people. The American public should not fall for this con.”
