The United States Mint will start to accept orders for the new Civil Rights Act Commemorative dollar coin on January 2 at noon Eastern Time (ET). Coin collectors may visit the United States Mint featured catalog via their website on your computer or at a local library. Would Pope Francis or George Orwell's Winston weigh in on how Civil Rights affected their lives and tell their stories?
These coins are memorable souvenirs or gift one to someone directly affected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Public Law 110-451 authorizes the bureau to mint and issue silver dollar coins in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”

The set will include a space for the giver, recipient, a family member or friend to document their personal stories.
