Civil Air Patrol cadet receives prestigious General Billy Mitchell Award

St. Augustine - Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron Cadet Andrew Li was presented with the General Billy Mitchell Award by Florida Wing Commander Col. Michael A. Cook at a ceremony held at the St. Johns County Conference Center. With this award also comes a promotion to cadet second lieutenant which is a first for any cadet member of the squadron.

The award is the second in a series of milestone achievements and is named after the late Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell who was a staunch proponent of the use of air power during the early days of aviation. In addition, he was an advocate of an independent air force. Achievement of the award denotes excellence in the cadet program and is accomplished through practical study and application of leadership fundamentals and aerospace education.

C/2nd Lt. Li is the son of Lee Shu and Jerry Li and he attends St. Augustine High School where he is a member of the St. Johns County Aerospace Academy, the Cambridge AICE Program, and the SJCCA Center for the Arts Academy. He has also been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy by Congressman John Mica.
