Universal Orlando Resort announced this week that its CityWalk entertainment district is undergoing a massive expansion that includes several new eateries. This is in addition to the existing entertainment venues (nightclubs, movie theater, and miniature golf).
If you've been to the resort recently, you probably noticed construction walls and lots of activity. Here are the details of what's going on, and you can see the full media presentation in the video accompanying this article:
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food evokes Mexican markets, cantinas and street carts, with food made from the freshest ingredients. Even though you'll be right outside of Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, you'll feel like you stepped into Mexico.
Hot Dog Hall of Fame
Enjoy regional hot dogs varieties here that will make you feel at home, even though you're in Florida. Enjoy varieties from places like Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles, based on ball park-style from each of those cities.
Imagine a place that fuses sushi and burgers into creative combinations. People in North Carolina are already familiar with the concept, and now Cowfish is bringing "burgushi" to Florida.
Cold Stone Creamery
If you like chunky ice cream, this is the place to visit on a hot summer day. Choose your ice cream flavor and your mix-ins and watch your frozen treat prepared right before your eyes.
Your kids (and your inner child) will love Bread Box sandwiches as these freshly made goodies transport you to homemade sandwiches and creations from your local deli.
Combine unique frozen yogurt flavors with a self-serve topping bar and you've got Menchie's. It's another spot to cool down when the summer temperatures soar into the 90s and above.
There's also an as-yet unamed new modern Italian kitchen concept that's currently under development. It will feature handcrafted, made-from-scratch pasta and new takes on classic dishes.
Meanwhile, Red Oven Pizza Bakery is now open, serving freshly-made artisan pizzas by the pie or by the slice.
The exact opening dates haven't been released yet, but look for all the new eateries in 2014.
Next year is also the time when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion in Universal Studios Florida will make its debut. Jump to this article to see a video about this exciting project.
