A new seed company in Canada is playing a major role in restoring St. James Park in Toronto.
Following the 40 day Occupy Toronto protest, officials with the City of Toronto announced that damage to the grass at St. James Park was a staggering $60,000.00.
Learning the City of Toronto was canvassing for donations to restore St. James Park to the green space enjoyed immensely by environmentally conscious Torontonians, the seed company responded quickly to Toronto City Councillors and Park representatives to help in a big way.
RTF Water Saver Canada, distributors of RTF Water Saver Grass Seed out of Mississauga, received official confirmation from the Parks Department with the City of Toronto that their donation is accepted and will be involved in seeding St. James Park.

Joseph Salemi of the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association expressed his excitement on donations to City of Toronto “This is truly the definition of community. Businesses from all over the GTA have donated time, labour, and materials to make St. James Park. Professionals have breathed new life into this green space with horticulturally correct practices.”
Salemi also states, “St. James Park remediation includes not only preparation before winter with sod but over seeding and top dressing in the spring. This practise with seed accepted by City of Toronto for the restoration of St James Park will help the existing turf flourish and become more lush and dense, choking out weeds and other pests. These are great characteristics and key to help keep the park be environmentally sustainable for the friends of St. James Park. It is immensely appreciated.”
