City of Martinez serves up Blues by the Bay

It’s no easy thing presenting live blues in Northern California. San Francisco and Sacramento’s annual festivals long ago went out of business and few nightspots regularly showcase the music, with Biscuits and Blues representing the obvious exception.
So it does my heart good to see the City of Martinez hosting Blues by the Bay. Set for May 10 at the Martinez Waterfront Amphitheater, the event promises a springtime good time with a family-friendly atmosphere and some impressive names on the bill.

Noon: St. Gabriel's Celestial Brass Band
2 p.m.: Kyle Jester
3 p.m.: Frankie G and the Conviction
4:30 p.m.: Zydeco Flames
6 p.m.: Marcia Ball
7:45 p.m.: Elvin Bishop
