Being a police officer is often a dangerous job.
An officer never knows if he or she will come after a shift.
The City of Hollywood honored six officers who died in the line of duty on May 23. A memorial in their honor was built in front of the Hollywood Police Department. A special ceremony was held and families of the deceased officers were honored.
Hollywood Police Chief Frank Fernandez spoke at the ceremony. "We pay tribute to the officers who gave their life for the public good. This is a reminder to the public that being a police officer is a dangerous job," said Fernandez.
Hollywood Mayor Frank Bober said, "This memorial is a testament to officers who have given their lives to protect the public," he said.
