As fans of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles read “Clockwork Princess,” the final book in her Infernal Devices series, news about the release of her final Mortal Instruments book is revealed. Today the official Shadowhunters app. shared that the final installment of The Mortal Instruments, “City of Heavenly Fire” will hit shelves March 1, 2014.
The Infernal Devices may be over and the end of The Mortal Instruments is less than a year away but that doesn’t mean curtain call for the world of the Nephilim. Clare is set for a new series, The Dark Artifices. Book one, “Lady Midnight” is set for a March 2015 release. The Dark Artifices takes place in present day Los Angeles.
Clare doesn’t plan to leave her shadowhunter world anytime soon. “I tend to be obsessed by/with family connections. So I have a lot of interest in doing a series about the generation that comes after Will and Tessa and Jem. You'll see their names in the family tree. I'm interested in telling the story of those characters, and that would be set around the turn of the 19th century, as the Victorian era turned into the Edwardian era. If you've seen Downton Abbey you have some sense,” said Clare in my exclusive interview.
Now that sounds exciting! Though The Mortal Instruments comes to an end next year fans still have the movies to look forward to. “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” debuts August 23 Sony Entertainment, Constantin Film and media agree it could be the next big franchise.
