City of El Monte’s Blood & Toy Drive to Benefit Children’s Hospital of LA

The City of El Monte has partnered with Children's Hospital to hold a blood drive on Sept. 10, 2014, at the El Monte City Hall from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From those unable to give blood, the Children's Hospital will happily accept toys and other essentials. All donors who participate will receive a gift certificate, T-shirt and the opportunity to receive great door prizes.

Toys and other essential items should all be able to be played with or used in bed and must be brand new in their original packaging and not gift-wrapped. Suggested items include:

Infants 0-12 months: new baby clothes, interactive crib toys, rattles, musical crib mobiles, musicals with lights, board books;

Toddlers 13 Months-3 Years: Interactive toys with lights and music, age-appropriate cars/trucks, soft baby dolls and pop-up toys;

4-11 Years: Model planes/cars, Barbie/Monster High dolls, superhero action figures, remote-control cars, puzzles (100 pieces and under), Hello Kitty items, K'Nex/Leggos, Transformers, dinosaur toys, bubbles (no attachments), super bounce ball craft kits;

Teen and Young Adults 12 and Over: Bath and Body works lotions/gel sets; iPods, iPads, MP3 players and digital video players; iTunes gift cards; craft kits for teens; bead kits for teens; Nintendo DS and Playstation portable; UNO cards; playing cards; Fuzzy brand art boxes and art posters; board games (i.e. Life, Connect Four, Battleship, etc.);

All Ages: Gift cards (i.e. Target, Toys 'R' Us, Walmart), coloring books, crayons, markers, white artist paper, diaries/journals, pull-on shorts, sweat pants, T-shirts and underwear.

This event will be held at the El Monte City Hall's executive parking lot located at 11333 Valley Blvd in El Monte 91731.
