Last November ‘Pretty Little Liars’ writer, I. Marlene King turned in her rewrite of Jessica Positgo’s ‘City of Bones’ script. In my last interview with Mortal Instruments author Cassandra Clare she was very happy with the script. “I really like it. The screenplay is the backbone of a movie and this version is much closer to the book. There is a long line of people that must sign-off on the script before filming can start,” explained Clare. This long process resulted in the film not starting filming in January like both actors, Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins said it would in many interviews.
Now King has tweeted, “Do you know The Mortal Instruments Books? I have some exciting news!” Could the script be approved or just made it to another level of approval? Either way this sounds like news The Mortal Instruments fandom can't wait to hear.
Earlier this week ‘City of Bones’ star Lily Collins dropped out from her attachment to ‘The Evil Dead’ remake because of “scheduling conflicts” and now there is this teasing tweet from King. Could things finally be moving forward with ‘City of Bones’ production, what Screen Gems hopes to be the first in a successful YA adaptation franchise?
In response to a tweet, Clare said “I know nothing…” This is an author who is very connected with her fans on multiple social media outlets. If something could be said publically, she would be saying it.
For now, I advise Mortal Instruments fans to not break out in celebration just yet. But with these two developments, things appear to be looking good with this highly anticipated movie.
