In Minnesota, we have three distinct biomes. From the hardwood forests of the Southeastern part of Minnesota to the prairie to the northern forests, we have it all here! Within each biome we have many cities but we have plenty of roaming room! In Minnesota, City Meets Country.

The Austin Area Art Center issues a call to artists from the area served by the Southeastern Minnesota Art Council-Counties include Goodhue, Rice, Wabasha, Steele, Dodge, Olmstead, Winona, Freeborn, Mower, Fillmore and Houston. The art center would like to have your City Meets Country art on display from May 2-27! This is a juried show with prize money of $225. In order to have your work considered for this show, please adhere to the following guidelines.

Show: City Meets Country
Where: Austin Area Art Center, Austin Minnesota
When: May 2-27, 2012
What: Visual Artwork that represent the theme of City Meet Country. Up to three items.
Process of Application:

  1. All items submitted for review require the following fees. Fees are non refundable. First item is $20. Second and Third are each $5. If you work is juried into the shows, each item must be for sale and properly displayed. If you work sells at the show, standard commission fees apply of 40% for non members and 30% for members. The Art Center takes those fees out of your sales total so plan accordingly.
  2. For the review: Please take photos of your work and submit them as follows. JPEG Format, Longest side 800 Pixels and at 75DPI. Photos of your work must be submitted along with descriptions of your work and an artists statement by April 9, 2012. Please email (aaacoil@smig.net) them to the center or send them in on a CD postmarked no later then the April 9, 2012. The background on all images should be white so that the background is not distracting from the originality of the art viewed. Note: CD's will not be returned and will be shredded if your work is not juried into the event.
  3. The jury, made up of board members from the art center and other art related organizations in Austin will evaluate the works on April 14 and then notify applicants of the results. If you work is juried in, you will be responsible to get your work to the center on the following days and times: April 25-27 from 12-4pm.
  4. The show comes down on May 28. Please arrange to pick up your items within a week of them coming down. No items maybe taken down early. You can pick up your work during standard operating hours of Wednesdays through Sundays 12-4pm that week!

The art center looks forward to having your work on display at the Cultural Show of the Arts May 2-27.
