The crash happened around 2:20 p.m. on I-75 southbound near the Cleveland Avenue exit, according to Atlanta police.
Officers arrived to find the City of Atlanta Public Works truck had rolled over, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
There were two occupants in the vehicle, and they are both city employees. So far, police have not released their names.
One of the employees died at the scene and the driver was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling south on I-75 and began exiting onto the Cleveland Avenue exit ramp when the accident occurred,” Officer Chafee said.
Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the wreck. It’s unclear if any charges will be filed in the incident.
