Citizens keep 'God hates fags' church from protesting at funeral

On Saturday, in the small town of Weston, Missouri, people tossed aside their differences they may have had over the war in Afghanistan, and stood firm against an apostate church called the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) otherwise know as the "God Hates Fags" church.  A man by the name of Fred Phelps is the so-called pastor of this apparently demonically possessed church.  Their church website if filled with hateful and un-Christian themes and attitudes.

But, the citizens of Weston, MO, wanted to protect the family and friends who were going to be saying goodbye to a fallen soldier, Sgt. First Class C.J. Sadell, 34 years of age, who died October 24 from injuries he sustained in an ambush in Afghanistan. From the video, it appears that several hundred people turned out to be part of a human line of defense between the WBC and the family of the fallen Soldier.

According to Fox4kc TV, people came from Blue Springs, California and even Australia to be a part of the band of patriotic supporters.  They showed up to support the family and friends of Sadell carrying American flags, and played patriotic music.  Some of them actually stood as a human shield at the funeral home.

The turnout was so good, that when the WBC protesters showed up to protest at the funeral of this fallen hero, they put their tail between their legs and were seen running for their cars to leave.  An exaggeration of course, but a good analogy. The diden't even get their protest signs out of their cars, they just left!

While it is apparent to true Christians that a church, its congregation, and church leaders should not act or react the way this church does.  And, while almost all other churches and congregations across the country disagree with their method of operation, they would have to agree that the WBC does have a right to voice their opinion, no matter how stupid, senseless, and insensitive it may seem.  However, common sense should prevail, but apparently is nonexistent at the Westboro Baptist Church!
