It’s no secret that Bobbi Kristina threw shade at actress, Angela Bassett for directing a biopic of her famous mother, Whitney Houston, without casting her in the production. It’s been recently revealed that Cissy Houston, mother of the late superstar, has expressed her objections about the Lifetime production as well.
On July 22, Cissy Houston exclusively spoke with Entertainment Tonight and pleaded to fans to “please let her rest.” Cissy feels that the people involved in the project knows nothing about the real Whitney Houston or her relationship with Bobby Brown.
Although mama Houston has expressed her objections about the biopic, Lifetime has decided to proceed with the made-for-TV production, ‘I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story’.
The movie will be based on the rocky relationship and marriage between the legendary singer and Bobby Brown, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
Houston’s music will be featured in the biopic, however; it will not include actual vocal performances from the legendary singer. Actress and ‘America’s Next Top Model’ contestant, Yaya DaCosta, will star as Whitney Houston but R&B vocalist, Deborah Cox will contribute the vocals to Houston’s hit songs.
Bassett, who co-starred with Houston in “Waiting to Exhale”, told Entertainment Weekly on June 26 that she didn't consider casting Bobbi Kristina because “she’s not an actress.” She goes on to say, “It’s more than just saying lines and turning the light on. You have to drive the story—there’s a technical aspect.”
21 year old Bobbi took to Twitter with several negative tweets going at Bassett personally. The tweets have since been deleted.
