Cinco de Mayo Longboard Pro on tres de Mayo

See also

Do not get confused by the spicy title and numbers. In all actuality, the longboard competition takes place on tres de Mayo! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo a little early while taking in some amazing Texas surfing.

At 6pm tonight, the sign-up and welcome event commences at the Boathouse Bar & Grill on North Padre Island. However, the contest will begin tomorrow at 7am at North Packery Channel jetties (Zahn Rd. and beach) in Corpus Christi and last throughout the day. Other events will coincide with the Cinco de Mayo Longboard Pro: an Atomic Omelette and Grill Beach Horseshoe Tourney, live bands, barbeque, raffles, and sponsor product give-a-ways.

The Texas Gulf Surfing Association (TGSA) is teaming up with Atomic Omelette and Grill to host this pro event. The cash purse is $4,000. Proceeds will benefit the TGSA and the James Greer Surfer Scholarship Fund. They have several divisions with limited spots available for contest entry: Open Longboard, Women Longboard, Junior Longboard, and even a Shortboard Expression Session. Participants will return to the Boathouse Bar & Grill on Saturday night for the awards ceremony.
