What kind of person willingly jumps into bone-chilling water in February? If it is for a good cause, a group of Cincinnati Rollergirls, that is who. The Ohio and Kentucky Polar Plunge Benefit which is in its 9th year raises money for the Special Olympics, and this year includes some of the hardest hitting women in the tri-state.
Making the plunge into the icy water will be Monte Zooma, Big Ugly, Maul Cop, Buckhead Betty, Ruthless Chris and Kitten Kicker; a group of ladies with enough moxie to fill the Cincinnati Gardens and then some. They will take to the water with hundred s of other brave souls, who are also not worried about their personal well-being. Last year the number of participants was 730 which beat the previous record of 650 plungers.
Since the event became a joint fundraiser in 2005, the Plunge has raised more than $670,000 for programs in both states. The event is February 2 at Joe’s Crab Shack in Covington, KY beginning at 11 A.M.
