The miserably cold days of January are stuck between the joy of the holidays, and the opening of baseball and roller derby which do not begin until March. But January also ushers in the annual Cincinnati City Beat 'Best-of,' where the Cincinnati Rollergirls (CRG) are once again nominated for Best 'amateur/semi' pro sports team.
For the last five years the Cincinnati Rollergirls have won a Cincinnati City Beat ‘Best Of’ award. In 2009 the team won for 'Best Player Owned Team' and for the last two years CRG has won for 'Best Amateur/semi pro' team in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Rollergirls have taken up residence on the Best Of list, all thanks to their devout fan base.
The 'Best of'' survey allows Cincinnati City Beat’s readers to choose what they feel is the best representation of Cincinnati in categories such as restaurants, news reporters, shopping retailers, sports teams and much more. The Cincinnati Rollergirls are largely a hidden gem of the Queen City, but don't tell that to the 3000+ fans who file into the Cincinnati Gardens for their bouts each spring and summer.
CRG also is involved with numerous charitable events throughout the year including a Polar Plunge this Saturday for the Special Olympics.
