2010 MLB preview: Cincinnati Reds The Reds finished the 2009 season 27-13, and that is encouraging, but this club has nothing but questions. Will Joey Votto have a breakout season, Can Scott Rolen stay healthy? Will Aaron Harang perform in a contract year? Will Homer Bailey’s strong second half carry in 2010? How good is Aroldis Chapman? Of course the last question is, can the Reds shock the world and contend in the National League Central? |

Cincinnati Reds get creative with small payroll The Cincinnati Reds are the very definition of a small market team. They have attendance problems, as they lose less people come out to the ballpark. In 2009 1.7 million fans came out to see the Reds, down from 2 million in 2008. SO they have to set hard limits on their payroll. The current payroll number is right around 73 million dollars, and that doesn’t look likely to change. |

2009 MLB season in review: Cincinnati Reds The 2009 campaign of the Cincinnati Reds was yet another disappointment. Through the early part of the year the Reds looked like contenders, of course that was before losing 34 of 53 games though June and July. Much of the Reds struggles lie with Sophomore Jay Bruce, this Red mega prospect hit just .207 in 2009 and that simply is not good enough. Their star pitchers Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang were merely average. In the end their strong start was not inductive of what people expect from this team, and really what they expect of themselves. |

Cincinnati Reds’ Pitcher Bronson Arroyo recently admitted that he used Andro and amphetamines in 2004 before they were officially placed on the MLB banned list. While there is no word yet if he was one of the unnamed 103 MLB players who tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs in 2003, Arroyo says he will continue using supplements regardless if they are on the MLB list of approved supplements or not. In his defense at the very least Arroyo is willing to not only talk about, put apparently talk honestly about what he is doing. |
