Cincinnati Reds lose spring training debut 11-10 to the Cleveland Indians (Video)

The Cincinnati Reds lost their spring training debut in Goodyear Arizona on Friday 11-10. Fans expecting a low scoring pitching duel didn’t get one.

Joey Votto of the Reds got the action started in the first inning with an RBI single. The Reds punished Indians pitcher Giovanni Soto by knocking him out of the game in the first inning. Soto gave up 5 runs and 3 hits.

Additionally, Reds Miguel Olivo and Devin Mesoraco both hit home runs.

If this outing is a sign of things to come, the Reds proved they have an upgraded offense with added power. Reds pitcher Tony Cingrani started the game and allowed 3 hits and 3 runs in one inning.

Cingrani is a left handed pitcher who is expected to eventually enter the starting rotation. The Reds have another game against the Indians this afternoon. Be sure to visit the Reds website for additional information about tickets or Reds news.
