Cincinnati Pops at Concert on the Green

The Cincinnati Pops under the direction of Conductor John Morris Russell along and the ever popular Comet Bluegrass Allstars are holding a free concert for the public on July 18, 2014 8:00pm at the grounds of Union Central Life Insurance. This is an annual event to celebrate summer in Forest Park it is called Concert on the Green. Individuals and families are encouraged to come with lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and celebrate at this relaxing and inspiring musical event.

The Cincinnati Pops have selected various Broadway tunes, American standards, and movie soundtracks for the concert. Copland’s Rodeo, Shenandoah, Red River Valley, and This Land is Your Land, as well as selections from Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Chicago will be performed.

Comet Bluegrass Allstars are from Northside in Cincinnati. They have performed previously at the World Choir Games, as well as opening for music acts, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, and Sam Bush.

John Morris Russell has lead the Cincinnati Pops for 3 years his concerts have always been entertaining and interactive and are memorable for attendees. He has in the past worked with various talented musical artists including Ray Charles, Vince Gill, Branford Marsalis, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Amy Grant, Chris Botti, Brian Wilson, George Takei, Michael McDonald, Rosemary Clooney and a host of others. He is one of the most requested conductors across North American. He has conducted concerts with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, and Denver Symphony Orchestra. This summer he will be in Los Angeles to conduct 3 concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.
