Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry next distribution day is May 19

May 19 is the next distribution day at the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry (CPFP). The pet food pantry assists families with food for their pets. Volunteers regularly hand out pet foods donated by individual and company donations. The Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry provides temporary food assistance to pet owners who can’t afford food for their pets in order to keep pets with their families instead of being placed in an animal rescue or shelter.

Each month, usually the third weekend, CPFP gives cat food, dog food and cat litter to needy families. Sometimes they provide “critter” food for hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, ferrets and birds.

“Local shelters and animal rescues are experiencing an increase in owner relinquishment of family pets due to the family’s inability to afford pet food and pet care for their beloved four-legged family members. Giving up a family pet to make sure it is has food and is healthy is a very traumatic experience for both the humans and the animal,” says CPFP.

The first 150 qualified visitors will receive pet food assistance. Applicants will need to come early, fill out an application, bring proper income verification and photo ID. It’s unfortunate, but CPFP personnel say not everyone will get help due to limited supplies.
