Cincinnati invites former Red Brett Tomko to spring training

The Reds have extended a spring training invite to a familiar face in the organization as Brett Tomko will make his way to Goodyear, Ari.

Tomko was drafted by the Reds in 1995 and made his MLB debut in 1997. In his first season with the Reds he went 11-7 with a 3.43 ERA. He stumbled in 1998 when he went 13-12 with a 4.44 ERA and then 5-7 with a 4.92 ERA in 1999.

In 2000 the Reds sent Tomko and Mike Cameron to Seattle for Ken Griffey Jr. From there he bounced from team to team playing for the Padres, Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers, Royals, Yankees, A's. He spent last season with the Rangers appearing in eight games.

Tomko will join Carlos Fisher and 16 other players as non roster invitees. If he were to make the Reds this season it is likely that he will appear in the bullpen as he has in 23 of his last 29 games.
